Relative Caregivers Raising Children

Kinship Care Resource Center provides resources for grandparents and other relatives raising children in parent-absent homes. The Center offers direct and referral services for adults, teens, and youth including case management, tutoring, financial and educational workshops, computer training, and day and overnight trips.

Enrollment for Kinship Care services is open to all Clayton County grandparents raising grandchildren and other relative caregivers in parent-absent homes. Applicant must bring proof of residency, custody/guardianship papers, and social security cards for children in their care. New Client intakes and orientations are done every Wednesday and Thursday by appointment.

  • Legal and financial assistance
  • Housing assistance
  • Health and counseling services
  • TANF, Medicaid, and WIC Program

Does Kinship Care offer support groups?

Yes, we do!

  • Our morning support groups are held on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month at 11:00am at the Kinship Care Resource
    Center, located at 849 Battle Creek Rd, Jonesboro, GA 30236. FREE breakfast served before 11:00am.
  • The Butterfly Project, a small self help group, meets at the Kinship Care Resource Center Tuesdays at 10:00am.
  • Evening support groups meet at the Kinship Care Resource Center the 3rd Friday evening of each month at 5:00pm.

How is Kinship Care funded?

Partial funding through grants from the Atlanta Regional Commission and DHR make it possible for Kinship Care to provide services that promote safe and stable families.
